We want wandering off for a few days the weekend before last. As usual, I was over-zealous with the camera. You have no idea the job I had to thin down over 1500 photos to this little pile... Hope you enjoy them. I, meanwhile, am going to finish off the article I wrote whilst there about porcupines, and then I'm going to play at making a book trailer...

Oh I needed that! What a gorgeous tour of S.A. Really one of the most beautiful places on earth. The view from the hotel was spectacular, it would have been hard to leave.
Thank you for sharing Nicky!
So glad you enjoyed it, Lori! :-) It is a very, very beautiful place, just a shame it's marred by such an awful history and resulting violence.
So much wide open space to enjoy. It all looks so quiet and peaceful there.
Absolutely wonderfully beautiful pictures and places. You picked a piece of heaven to visit.
Lovely tour, indeed. And wineries too. Thanks.
What a beautiful place, especially the dam. Glad you had a lovely weekend away.

What a treat your photos are! My two favorites are Country Art & The Abandoned House.
Great pics, Vanilla. They make me wish I spent the weekend wandering around the countryside.
Fantastic! Apart from the bodies of water, it's very similar to the NSW Hunter Valley, also a wine growing area but where are the porcupines?
Achingly beautiful, making my heart both sing and cry at the same time...that completely stunning spot makes me want to make an offer for that "fixer upper" in the last pic! Sigh.
great wee tour, nicky :)
water, rock and the rest of nature can't be beat by anything manmade, but the vineyards are fabulous...
Ooohhh stunning photographs honey!! I've never been to SA but it looks just stunning!!
I particularly like your 'Soaring Peaks' photograph....the vineyards look like wee old men with their arms round each others shoulders :-)

Mountains, water, vineyards, blossoms, those red dusty roads, what a beauty everywhere! Thanks for taking us on this trip with you, Nicky. I also enjoyed the stop at the restaurant with fresh ciabatta, lovely.
Your attention to detail is unbelievable. Both the photos of open spaces and the close-ups were magnificent. Have a lovely time playing with your software whilts trying to make that trailer. I know what it feels like.
Many thanks for this tour.
Greetings from London.
lovely photos, I am glad I popped by to look.
Gorgeous!
I enjoyed the tour - thank you for sharing

The Internet is incredible, is it not? I've just taken a tour of Wales, and now here I am in S.A.
How nice to see Spring arriving. I never tire of it. We are heading into Autumn, of course, so I always visit my friends who live down under just so I can see the photos of Spring, when we are under feet of Snow.
S.A. is so beautiful. My stepson stayed in Cape Town for a year, and his photos are amazing as well.
beautiful photos as always
I like the pictures with the vines
and the blossom
and protea - they are just so extraordinary.
A beautiful corner of our world. I also enjoyed reading your doorman story. Brightened my day.
Lovely photos, especially that protea! Glad you had a break in such a stunning place..
This was fabulous! Thank you.
Looking forward to the book trailer :)
Splendid photos! Oh, I had forgotten that it's spring there now... Just beautiful!
I'm always puzzled by the contrariety between the beauty of the land and the social situation there.
xoxoxo
wow, thanks for the armchair holiday. I needed to get away!
the photos are divine! and the color of that proteas is so soft, sweet and calming
autumn is really starting to fall here!
What a refreshing break, thanks!
So glad you all enjoyed the pics! Shame you can't all come for a visit - we could for a meal at one of the lovely restaurants that dot the valley - plenty of fine food and good wine to be had!
