I thought I'd try something a little different this week - stream of consciousness "poetry" inspired by music I've been listening to and some of my photos "tweaked" in the "digital darkroom". You'll have seen some of the images in original format on the blog already, others are tucked away in my Flickr account. Each "pome" is simply called Stream of Consciousness I, II or III etc. The body may ail but the mind, imagination and spirit continue to soar.
Stream of Consciousness I
Flowing spirals
drift
on ribboned lights
Blue dreams
sift through purple haze
Coral blush
lights up the sky of everwhere
Gossamer threads
billow in rainbow hues
Paint a picture
of a thousand words
stretch out
reach
Beyond desire
elemental whispers
bring home
Love

i love the imagery of this entire piece, esp. this:
reach
Beyond desire
elemental whispers
bring home
Love
if only i could see my streams of consciousness like you did......
Thanks, CS, I find it helps to listen to music but otherwise it's simply a case of just letting the mind go and listening - as one would listen to the wind rustling through the trees - it is, I find, a detached state of being, almost meditative.
This swirls like the music..lovely.
It was a great experiment.
More poems on the horizon of your mind, hopefully?
Thanks, Jan, I plan to try it out for the week. But I must say I'm having far more fun with the images than I am with the words! ;-)
Love the digital darkroom effects, and I'm always in favor of stream-of-consciousness in any of its forms. Improvisation is a skill that is well worth cultivating.
I've been thinking about your last post, about creative ideas beginning to "flow" - your word (others have used it). It's really out of our control whether or not the goddess of creativity is going to bless us. I think that mastery of the arts includes a willingness to allow the flow to come and go, and be able to be graceful about that.
Unfinished thoughts, but thanks for your post. Made me think, always a very good thing!
absolutely fabulous words and the pictures! love the stream and always like putting my toes in it. ;)
wow, I have a lot to learn about tweaking in the digital darkroom. your pictures are pure inspiration.
look forward to the week!
Thanks! I guess I always create in a stream of consciousness way, Reya, I find when I plan things I meddle - just going with the flow, with the goddess or muse or creative spirit seems to ensure far more "successful" results. In this instance there was no planning for either words or images - it was listening and playing - and therein lies the fun and with that there is no angst :-)
Thanks, Kimy. Tweaking in the digital darkroom was huge fun - the one shot started life as a photo of a sunset sky with clouds, the other is the inside of a blue glass vase :-) And you'll notice as the week progresses the passion for circles or bubbles - other worlds, as I think of them :-)
I liked the blue picture a lot...very nicely done
Thanks, Rambler, who'd have thought it started out as a blue vase. ;-)
gossamer threads, and, elemental whispers
I'll let those words drift through me.
all of your words, inspiring words.
(pluse another mention of rainbows on a blog)
meditative images.
I sit still and listen to the questions that arise within me, and ah here comes one..."what music were you listening to?"
and then "a blue vase, really?"
Elemental whispers...
Just beautiful, words and pictures together. I'm right there, floating with you...
Aw thanks, Taffiny, you're so sweet. I guess I was in a sort of meditative, reflective frame of mind when I wrote the words, inspired by the music. What was it, Reiki Gold by Llewellyn. And yep, it really was the inside of a blue vase.
:-)
Thanks, Vesper, so happy to share my floating space with you :-)
ooh I'm jealous. Beautiful images and words.
ahhhh a muse, a muse !!!! mine made a brief, rather dark, appearance Saturday - only to flit away again ....though i also admit, i have been called to 'arms' one might say ...
so happy to see CnC SoPHats has joined our forces in a spectacular way (even if we ARE a rather peculiar group of rebels)
what a beautiful pome - and a wonderful way to get past that 'inner critic' and get words on paper .... i read somewhere if one just spends 10 minutes a day writing anything and everything that passes through our minds - no editing allowed - it helps so much with circumventing creative roadblocks.
Maybe I should heed my own writers' tip ....
xxxx

Wow!Simply wonderful.Don't know which is better,the poem or the "pome"s!Keep rocking :)
i still love your shadows best...
Peaceful, images and verse. I love this combination AV, will you post the title of the music you're listening to also?
Most tranquil indeed. I really like the second image. I’d hang it in the hall of the top of the landing.
ooh, thanks, V ;-)
Ah, nothing wrong with being a peculiar sort of rebel, Red - in fact I think it might just be the best sort of rebel to be! ;-)
We-ell, when it comes to pomes I don't bother with the inner critic since I know poetry isn't my forte so I'm not trying to prove or achieve anything, I'm just tossing down words on paper as they well up in my head. I'm not trying to right well, I'm not trying, I'm just being and doing and yes, I think when one writes like that, irrespective of whether it is fiction or poetry, one by-passes the voices of the ego which so love to criticise and condemn. Just write - you know, as in Just Do It :-)
Thanks, Sameera - all just me playing and having fun ;-)
I know, Alaleh, I know but sometimes a girl's just gotta play and muck around and see what happens. I'm a firm believer in creativity through play, one never knows what might transpire :-) I think, on a more serious note, I'll be trying shadows and reflections with a difference next - but when the weather clears up because I much prefer working out of doors ;-)
Thanks, Kat, glad you liked them. The music was from a CD called Reiki Gold by Llewellyn. I heard it when I was at my acupuncturist a while back and then bought the CD - I find it very healing and soothing.
Ooh, thank you, Nonny - with more people like you around I might even achieve fame with my dabblings and daubings in the digital darkroom! :-)
i perfectly understand the need for play... i am just a fan.
:)
Ah, you're so sweet, Alaleh :-) I haven't done any photography for years and even then, I only liked to do landscapes and again, only for fun. So all of this is new play, new experimentation, new discovering. I was one of those who had an appalling experience at art school so it's now, over twenty-five years later than I am poking my head out to play again. Baby steps :-)
beautiful! use of colours in ur poem is just so wonderful. Beautiful imagery
Thank you, Puresunshine - it's been fun doing this. :-)
Ok... from the top to here, including the funny squirrels; where'd you get all these incredible pictures?
Make them, take them, wisk them out of thin air? They are very nice.
Thank you!
Scarlett & Viaggiatore
Hey, Scarlett! So good to see you back, been a bit concerned about you!
The pics - took 'em, whisked 'em and made 'em. Imagination, a camera and a bit of technological magic :-)
So glad you like them!
